About Shake Rag III

Shake Rag, Tennessee was established in the 1850’s near what is now the intersection of Shelby Road and Rankin Branch.

The population “44 & 1/2” did not appear until 1969 when the ‘Mayor’ of Shake Rag – Martendale Abby was painting a new sign…

Mayor Abby wrote “1/2”, thereby creating the theory that “every time a woman gets pregnant, a man leaves town”…

Shake Rag Bar and Grill is currently undergoing it’s third resurrection and will open again in January 2015
